Top of the World

This is a picture of me on the world's tallest mountain. No, I did not hike Mt. Everest (which is the "highest" mountain in the world, not the "tallest"). The "tallest" mountain in the world is Mauna Kea, on the Big Island of Hawaii. When measured from the bottom of the sea floor, Mauna Kea tops in at over 33,000 feet. It rises 13,796 ft above sea level, and you can heli-ski on it during the winter. During the rest of the year, it provides a home for a dozen or so telescope observatories--several of which you can see in the photo. As you can see below, Evan and I considered trying to sneak into one of them.
